The pillows were the usual problem with this hotel chain: extremely hard and lumpy. I’d forgotten to bring my own, so I was stuck with them. They also had no irons left to lend. Apart from those niggles, it’s a great budget option, extremely clean and what you’d expect from the brand. The new building is in a great spot, with plenty of food and drink nearby, a huge shopping centre a few minutes’ walk away, plus a lovely walk, a children’s play area and lots of leisure options next door. The bed itself was lovely and comfortable.

This fairly new hotel was in good condition in 2026. It’s in the leisure scheme, with loads of bars and restaurants nearby. There’s no parking on site, but we left the car overnight in Southwater car park for just £1.60 after using the hotel’s parking validation machine.

The main downside was the overnight noise. A club directly opposite stays open until 3 am, which makes it hard to fall asleep, and the floors are noisy enough that you can hear exactly where people in the room above are walking. The hotel is centrally located in Telford, with the shopping centre just a few minutes away on foot. Parking at Southwater Car Park is good value at £1.60 if you validate at the check-in desk. The rooms are much smaller than at other Travelodges and hotel chains.

Work arranged this stay. I wouldn’t normally choose a Travelodge because they’re very basic. This one was fairly new, with clean but sparse rooms, though there was a kettle and tea and coffee. It was very close to a large shopping centre, which was handy.

I was quite happy with the room, but the noise from upstairs was terrible. The heater wasn’t working, so there was a portable one that clicked on and off all night. There was also a green flashing light on the wall, something to do with the heating. Sorry, but I won’t be coming back to this one.
