The food was delicious, and the waiting staff were warm and attentive throughout. But for a special birthday trip with my mum, this spa hotel was disappointing overall. We booked one night with spa access. Check-in was at 3pm, but the room wasn’t ready until 4pm, leaving us rushed before our 5:30pm treatments. The spa wasn’t clearly signposted or explained, and nobody told us the facilities closed at 6pm. We couldn’t properly use them, even though they were a major reason we booked. The outdoor pool was dirty, and children splashing around made it feel less relaxing. We were told we’d been upgraded because of our birthdays and because I’m heavily pregnant. We appreciated that at first, but when I checked online, it looked like we’d actually been given a standard classic room. That felt misleading. The poor organisation, lack of communication and limited spa access made the visit fall short of expectations.

My sister treated me to a night away and a spa treatment for my birthday, and I felt like a princess. I adored the hotel. Everything was beautiful and perfect, the staff were amazing, and the food was delicious. Lana gave me a gorgeous hot stone treatment. Thank you so much for making my birthday incredibly special.

The one small letdown was being told we couldn’t sit by the fireplace when it looked available. We’d been looking forward to that warm fireside feeling. Apart from that brief service misstep, the stay was flawless and exceeded expectations. The hotel is stunning, with beautifully designed rooms, luxurious linens and every comfort thoughtfully provided. We loved the spa, dining, charming atmosphere and elegant common spaces, which felt grand yet cozy. Staff were attentive, professional and genuinely welcoming. We left relaxed and cared for, and would happily return. A five-star stay from start to finish.

I’m on my second night of a three-night stay at Ellenborough, and already wanted to share how it’s going. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff have been more than accommodating. They’re happy to go the extra mile and are a credit to the company. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a relaxing break.
