YHA Broad Haven - Hostel

We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was at night. My wife and I are in our early 70s and had some doubts about staying in a youth hostel, but the location and price suited our one-night stop while walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was great, and the cafe food was wonderful and very reasonably priced.

The dining room is spacious, with part of the ceiling made of glass and views across the ocean. There’s seating outside at both the front and back, and the common room has useful tables and great Wi-Fi. The rooms are a decent size with comfortable beds, though storage is limited. The self-catering kitchen is huge and has everything you need, including ovens, which you don’t often find. The hostel is a great value for the UK, and I’d recommend it for a night or for a longer stay like my week there. The whole property is step-free and accessible, and beach wheelchairs are available to rent, I think. Sam was brilliant while I was there. Staff were friendly, helpful, quick to respond, and knew the property and surrounding area well. There’s lots of parking outside and an electric charging point. Parking is managed by the national parks, so get a parking disc from reception for your stay, and do it promptly because they check. If reception is closed, you can put a pound in the machine until staff return. The front desk isn’t always staffed.

We had a great stay and would come back. Staff were friendly and helpful, and having a communal kitchen was a real plus. There’s plenty of parking right outside. The dining room looks out to sea, and an easy five-minute walk takes you to the beach.

Lovely staff, great amenities and sea views. You can eat here or get takeaway even if you’re not staying, too. It’s a wonderful place to stay and eat, and I can’t believe we hadn’t found it sooner.
