Handy for a quick drink, right across from the train station. I had a refreshing pint of Red Stripe and settled into the comfortable seating. The ceiling block is covered with placemats, and the counter was nicely presented. Friendly staff and a proper old school pub feel.

We parked our campervan here overnight for £10. There’s a road nearby and the railway station is right next door, but it wasn’t too bad for what we needed. We arrived late, after I think they’d stopped serving food, yet the staff kindly made us burgers and chips. They make their own burgers, and you can tell, mine was lovely. The staff and locals were all friendly and kind. They have live music some nights too. I’ll definitely be back.

The room cost a fortune and wasn’t worth even the overpriced coffee they served us. It was broken and dirty, with old milk in the fridge and leftover shower gel. A drunk owner greeted me and didn’t know we were coming, and the lady behind the bar was very moody.

The signature burger was beautifully cooked, a big portion, and amazing. It was one of the pricier burgers I’ve had, but worth every penny. The pub has lovely seating inside and out, plus a pool table, dartboard, and TVs for sports.

The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed it enough to visit again on the return journey.
