We only stayed a night and wished we'd booked longer. The grounds were stunning to walk around, and I imagine they're beautiful in summer. The little apartment had everything we needed, with a well-equipped kitchen, seating, a TV, and an upstairs bedroom and bathroom. You can book access to the pool, hot tub and sauna too. We had a lovely time and will definitely return.

The cottage was spotless, well cared for and naturally very warm inside. The only snag was the WiFi, which stopped working after about 30 minutes. Trying to reconnect took us to the router's admin page, so we left it alone and used a hotspot instead. It wasn't a major problem in the area. I stayed at Sutton Hall Resort (Ryedale cottage) the night before my wedding in Thirsk. It's a fantastic location, about a 10 minute drive from Thirsk town, with plenty of parking on the grounds. We used the QR code in the welcome pack to book the pool and sauna. Each booking gives you 30 minutes, with the option to extend if there's availability. The gardens around the stately home were lovely and well kept, so we took some wedding photos there. We arrived after the staff had gone home and didn't meet anyone, but they emailed a welcome video and the door lock codes so we could let ourselves in. I was very happy with the stay and would definitely come back with my wife for a weekend away.

Having the gym, pool, sauna and hot tub available was nice. The room itself was pleasant, but it was VERY cold when we arrived and took quite a while to warm up to a comfortable temperature.

The accommodation was clean and nice, but it was very expensive when breakfast wasn't included. We booked expecting a hotel because the advertising sometimes called it a hotel and sometimes a resort, and we thought breakfast would be provided. It's actually self catering, and we hadn't brought anything with us. There were no staff on site when we arrived. The link with directions to our accommodation wouldn't open, so we wandered around looking for someone to ask. In the end, we found a mobile number and called someone, who directed us to the right place. When we got back from the family birthday party at midnight, it was pouring with rain and we were freezing. The heating hadn't been turned on.

We wanted a peaceful overnight break just after Valentine's and had a perfect stay at Sutton Hall Resort. Our room was more like a small apartment, with a kitchenette, living room and spacious bedroom. Booking the pool, hot tub and sauna online was really easy, and being close to Thirsk made it convenient to go out for a nice evening meal. A lovely, quiet retreat. I'd definitely recommend it!
