The food was the real highlight: every meal was carefully made, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The beer was well kept too. It's a comfortable, nicely decorated old pub, and the young woman behind the bar was all smiles, friendly and very helpful. I'll be back on Friday.

We dropped in for an unplanned Sunday lunch on the way home from Newcastle and were really impressed. The welcome was friendly, the food was excellent, the Yorkies were enormous and the portions generous. When we went to pay, we rolled a seven on the dice and won free pudding. Amazing value, and well worth a visit.

The scampi and fish and chips were both superb, proper pub food cooked well. The fish and chips is a huge serving, so come hungry. We ate at the pub a couple of times and popped in for a quick drink on a couple more, and always got a warm welcome. I'd recommend the pub and the cottages. We stayed in cottage number 3, which looked out over the North Yorkshire Moors. It was clean and spacious for the two of us, with two comfortable sofas and a very comfortable bed. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils and crockery, and useful basics were supplied, including washing-up liquid, a sponge, kitchen roll, toilet roll, tea, coffee and sugar. We got a warm welcome and were shown where things were, including the thermostat in case we needed the heating. Although the cottages are behind the pub, we couldn't hear any noise from it. The stay was great value too. Thank you.

We ate at the Inn every evening because the food was so good. They also had a proper special gluten-free menu, not just the odd option that's usual in most places, which was an added bonus. We spent four nights in one of the clean, comfortable, well-equipped cottages and got a warm welcome at the Inn. We'd forgotten breakfast supplies for the first morning, and they happily provided some. Paul and I will be back soon.

A lovely old building, friendly welcoming staff, good drinks and great food. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, just what you'd want in a country pub. Our 10-year-old also enjoyed the pool table room at the back. I had the Yorkshire Mix for lunch, a bit like a ploughman's but with more to it, and it was great. We'll definitely add this place to our list when we're next in the area.
