I booked an outing with Thornton lodge for 27 October 2019, but it was cancelled and postponed. I asked for a refund before the event date and was refused because I couldn't make the rescheduled date. Trading Standards advised me that cancelling the date I booked was a breach of contract. I'll be taking this further. Don't let them bully you with their terms and conditions. In my view, they aren't worth the paper they're written on because of distance selling regulations.

The postponed hunter trial on Sunday 3 November was a thoroughly enjoyable day. I was there with forty fellow competitors. Thanks to everyone who took part in raising money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a very worthy cause.

The apartments are lovely, and the hosts are so kind. If I ever come back to North Yorkshire, I'll stay with Sue and Bill again. Thank you so much for having me.

The couple who run the place gave us a very warm and thoughtful welcome. It was peaceful and quiet, and the facilities were a bit dated. Otherwise, it would have been five stars.
