The autumn colours across the grounds were lovely to see, and the surrounding area was great to explore. Our room was stunning when we arrived, with spectacular views over the River Nith and beyond. The scones waiting for us were fabulous and very welcome. Mel and John were great hosts, and Nithbank is certainly worth visiting this time of year.

The gardens along the River Nith are a delight, and I loved the comfortable lounge where breakfast is served. There's also a good-sized dining room, a games room with a full-size snooker table, and a well-equipped boot room with a butler's sink, WC and raincoats if the weather turns wet. The landing library and our room were beautifully furnished and decorated. Mel greeted us enthusiastically and made us feel very welcome and special. It felt like pure luxury from the moment we walked in. I'm so glad we stayed and can't wait to return. Thank you very much.

Mel made the best scones and jam we had in Scotland. I was here with my family for my birthday, and the stay was incredibly special. Everything at Nithbank Country Estate was wonderful, from the beautiful rooms and grounds to all there is to see in the area. I can't express how amazing the place is!

Melanie and John made our stay at Nithbank extra special. They're lovely, helpful hosts, always happy to suggest things to do and go the extra mile. The fresh fruit, homemade granola and warm croissants at breakfast were delicious, and the Scottish breakfast can be tailored, or you can choose salmon. Breakfast was brilliant. I also appreciated the use of local ingredients and eco-friendly toiletries. Our two-night stay was peaceful and calm, in beautiful surroundings. The room and residence were spotless and nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and good-quality linen. We had fresh fruit and treacle scones with homemade jam, delicious with the gorgeous view from the Chamberlain’s quarters. If you want a quiet, relaxing and luxurious getaway, this is the place. Thank you again, we'll be back!

Mel and John were wonderfully hospitable, and even found secure space for my bicycle in their heated outbuilding, with somewhere to hang my wet gear to dry. I spent three lovely nights at Nithbank while on a cycling holiday, staying in the Chamberlain’s Room. It was comfortable and bright, with original interior shutters if you want to make it dark. I enjoyed the sunset views, the birds at the feeders and in the surrounding woodland, and walking or relaxing in the grounds overlooking the River Nith. With warmer weather and less rain, it seems like it could be a good spot for stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking. The four Belted Galloway cows were very photogenic, though I didn't have time to feed them and get closer. I plan to return for longer with my husband, and maybe some friends.
