Just outside Bampton village, it’s an easy walk to good pubs and restaurants. I’d particularly recommend The Swan pub and Toucan cafe. The village also has independent shops, including a greengrocer, butcher, baker, chemist, delicatessen and SPAR supermarket, so there’s no need to do a big shop before arriving. The house is a great find for exploring the area and works really well for families. It’s on a quiet road, furnished like a home from home, and has off-street parking for two cars. There are two floors: upstairs, an ensuite double bedroom beside a comfortable lounge; downstairs, a large kitchen, family bathroom, another double bedroom and an ensuite twin room.

Set in a quiet rural spot, The Mill House is a spacious modern property. There’s room for all six people and our four-pawed friend, with a large enough kitchen and lots of plates, mugs, bowls and other basics. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, and there are plenty of walks for the dogs.

Bampton is a lovely little town about a mile away, up and back down the lane by the property. The house itself is gorgeous, with a bathroom for every bedroom and a massive kitchen. Everything is top quality, and the kitchen has so much crockery and glassware. It’s the best equipped place I’ve ever stayed in.

It wasn’t awful, but I didn’t find it very good either. The layout is odd, with the cooking area downstairs and the living space upstairs, and the TV looks like it’s from the 1900s. Getting around the place feels awkward, and it’s in a strange location on a narrow road. I’d avoid it, especially with kids or dogs.

We love the whole cottage and have stayed at the mill house cottage three times now. It’s very well equipped, and there are plenty of walks for us and our four spaniels. We’ve already booked again for our March holiday.
