We only had one night at the inn for the first part of our minimoon, and left wishing we could have stayed longer. After a warm welcome, we were shown to Purdey, a beautiful, very spacious room upstairs at the front, above the main bar, with views to the front and side. We’d been upgraded, which was a lovely surprise. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the bathroom had both a large shower and a freestanding bath, plus lovely Bramley toiletries. There was good WiFi, a great TV, water, homemade cookies, and excellent tea-making facilities with proper milk. Dinner by the real log fire was just as good. We were offered a welcome drink, then shared trout to start, followed by perfectly cooked venison and pork from the specials board. The chocolate mousse was delicious, and they were happy to adjust a couple of menu items for us. After a fantastic night’s sleep, we had a great breakfast: the Classic English and Eggs Royale were both perfect, and the apple juice was very nice too. The inn is beautiful and the staff were all so lovely.

The pub and rooms being dog friendly was a bonus, and we had a lovely stay at the King John. The staff were fantastic, knew the food and drink well, and made good suggestions. Dinner was delicious: I had the risotto and my partner chose the pheasant. There’s a good wine list too. The only thing I’d change is the room lighting, since it got dark in there quite quickly after sunset. We’ll definitely come back, and would happily recommend it.

There were 17 of us for Sunday roast, and the restaurant accommodated our group beautifully. The food was amazing, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We’d had a lovely weekend at king johns house, and this was a great meal to finish it off. We’ll definitely return when we’re in the area again.

After an outstanding New Year’s Eve dinner at the village inn, we’ve already booked a table to return later in the year. The atmosphere was amazing, the service first class, and the food so fantastic I wanted to hug the chef. If you’re nearby, it’s well worth a visit, and you can take a stroll around the charming little village too. 😊

We had a lovely room called Boss, with a bath, and slept really well. Breakfast was delicious and made to order, and the staff were attentive and very friendly. The room also had luxury toiletries. Down in the pub, Sunday lunch came with a great roast and a lovely atmosphere: groups of people enjoying themselves around the burning log fire.
