Jim and Helen run this excellent accommodation, and they're the friendliest hosts you could hope to meet. The cottages are beautiful, well provisioned and set in the lovely village of Tomintoul. There's plenty of walking straight from the house or a short drive away, with the Cairngorms and central Highlands ideally placed nearby. Aberdeen and Inverness are also within reach, and the village is fairly central. The Dark Skies reserve offers a chance to stargaze and perhaps see the Aurora Borealis. We'll most definitely be back.

This immaculate, well kept cottage had all the thoughtful touches needed for easy self catering. It really felt like a home away from home. You can take it slow and watch nature go by, or get out for a hike, a wee dram or a cycle on the quiet roads and varied mountain bike trails. Aviemore, Inverness and the Moray Firth, where we went dolphin watching, were highlights. Excellent accommodation in a tranquil spot.

We had excellent weather and would have enjoyed having an outside table. The only other thing that would have helped us was an upstairs shower. We were two families and had separate bathrooms during these strange times. Because my husband has Parkinson’s, he needed the upstairs bathroom at night for easier access, which meant he couldn't use a shower. It wouldn't usually have been an issue. The house was warm with underfloor heating, so clean and modern, and had everything we could want for our holiday. Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting. This wasn't a big issue compared with all the good things, and we'll definitely return.

We didn't cook once while we were away. Richmond Arms served fantastic home cooked food, as did fire station cafe. The cottage felt like a home from home, with underfloor heating, a beautiful downstairs bathroom with shower, and a fitted kitchen to die for. Upstairs there were three lovely bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single, plus a family bathroom. Such a lovely touch to find wine, chocolate and shortbread waiting on the table. Can't wait to go back, see you soon.

A lovely eco-house in the friendly village of Tomintoul, warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The facilities are top quality. It's ideally placed for exploring the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and Glenlivet Estate, with their wonderful walking routes and cycle tracks. The Lecht Ski Centre is less than 20 minutes away.
