The views were wonderful. That was the only good point for me. We couldn't use the facilities fully: the hot tub cleaning was supposed to happen at a stated time but didn't, and we couldn't use it on our last full day. On arrival, half a toilet roll and one dishwasher tablet were presented as the welcome pack, which didn't feel welcoming. The supplied bar towels weren't suitable as tea towels, either. There was a book listing everything in the property, which left me feeling as if I might steal a plate. I'm very confused that my review was deleted and the place given 5 stars. This wasn't the place for me. Let's see how long this stays up before it gets amended again? 31/10/2022 update: In response to the owners' comments, I did stay with you. It was booked in my husband's name. Replying to a post over a year old isn't helpful. My comments still stand.

We all had a blast at Shells Cottages and hope to stay again. We were in Hazel Lodge for a fantastic week, and Lloyd, the owner, and Jemma, the manager, clearly take pride in keeping the cottages beautiful. The area works really well for families and couples, with lovely walks and plenty to see and do. The local White Horse pub is a welcoming place for dogs, about a 15-20 minute walk away, and serves lovely food and ales. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't recommend this place. There aren't enough things supplied in the cottage, and the staff are so rude. The owner made the stay stressful by coming into the cottage without notice to check how many people were there. The hot tub water was changed every day and took ages to warm up. It felt like the owner was doing their best to stop guests using it. We ended up wasting time arguing with the owner.

We were enjoying ourselves because the place was lovely, until the owner arrived without warning at 11:30 on Sunday to clean the hot tub. Then, on departure day, the cleaners showed up 44 minutes before our departure time. After I posted my review, the owner accused me of being rude to his staff. DONT STAY HERE.
