The Liscawn

This was my second stay at the Liscawn, and it definitely won’t be my last. The quiet barn conversion room was cosy and had great views. I love how the Liscawn sits tucked away on its own beautiful land, with lovely views all around. It’s a beautiful stone building dating from 1310, only a stone’s throw from the Rame Head coast. The family who run it take a personal approach that makes for fantastic service. My five-year-old son had a lovely time and enjoyed his breakfast each morning, plus the complimentary cookies from the owners. It’s dog friendly too, and they serve your dog a cooked sausage every morning. I’d definitely recommend staying here with this kind, wonderful family.

The setting is rural, with several acres of grounds and grand views over fields and nearby hills. The Liscawn is listed as a four-star hotel, which it may have been in its heyday, but these days it feels more like an en suite B&B with the option of an evening meal. Our room was a bit tired, and the shower room cramped. We enjoyed the full English breakfast. There weren’t any midday snacks or drinks available, though, as the bar only opened in the evening for meal service.

We arrived to total peace and quiet, with sheep grazing and lovely views. It’s a beautiful historic hotel, hidden down a long winding drive in the middle of nowhere, though easy to find. The hoteliers’ son welcomed us warmly and showed us to our room. It was just right for an overnight stay, with a comfy bed, nice views, tea, coffee, TV and towels. We learned we were the only guests that night, and they said to come down whenever we fancied dinner so they could open the bar. Fiona did just that, welcoming us in late and making hot snacks, wedges and garlic bread. We ended up chatting until the middle of the night like we’d known each other for years. The food and drink were very reasonably priced, and I’m looking forward to trying full meals next time. Breakfast was a full continental spread, followed by a perfect cooked breakfast with thick smoked bacon, fresh sausages and all the trimmings. We got the same warm, smiling welcome, even though we were the only guests. A wonderfully relaxing night away. Thank you all, we can’t wait to return.

The cooked breakfast was 10/10, and the staff made us feel welcome and relaxed. They even reopened the bar for us after closing. I stayed here for work and had room 6, which was beautiful. The location was lovely and quiet, and the staff were amazing. I’ll definitely be back! :)
