Abbey Lawn Hotel

My wife and I were both unhappy when you said we had to stay in our room and couldn’t play bingo or spend time with our friends. My wife didn’t have any virus, and she was very disappointed by what you said to us. I know you have to follow the policies, but I’ll say it again, we won’t be coming back. That’s how my wife feels about the whole situation. Thank you for ruining our holiday. We’ve come with your company many times and had a good time, but we won’t be back.

The food was very good, both at breakfast and in the evening, and the staff serving it worked hard and were attentive. Our large room had a nice view over Torbay, comfortable beds, an ensuite shower room and plenty of storage. The bar has a good range of drinks, with a spacious conservatory and patio where you can enjoy them. It’s a short walk to Torquay centre and the harbour. My wife and I really enjoyed our four night break, courtesy of Daish`s coach trips.

The room could use decorating, and the carpet needs cleaning or replacing. The bed base was dirty and split into two pieces that didn’t come together; it tilted backwards so our feet were higher than our heads. The mattress was too soft. The bathroom door needed lifting a little before it would close and lock. The sheets and bedding were clean, there was plenty of storage, and the food was adequate and hot.

The staff are attentive, always smiling and chatting with guests, and seem to love their jobs. They create a lovely atmosphere. Well done!
