Braddon Hall Hotel

The hosts, Debby and her husband Wayne, were very friendly. I was there for a week in March 2020, off season, and nearly had the hotel to myself. My early flight was cancelled, so I took the train and arrived as late as 10.30 PM, but Debby still welcomed me and checked me in. Wayne gave me good tips on what to see and avoid around the region, and breakfast was fantastic. One of my best stays in the UK. Many thanks!

I sleep lightly and usually worry when I'm away, but our comfortable bed and quiet nights meant everything was fine. We were on the top floor and could just about see the sea. The hotel is about a 10-minute stroll from the main part of town, handy for walking back but far enough from the noise. Wayne and Debbie made us feel welcome, and the hotel and breakfast were lovely. I especially liked the homemade yoghurt. It was our first visit, but it won't be the last. If you don't know the area, ask Wayne for his advice on places to eat and days out over breakfast. The woman who topped up things in the rooms was really helpful and nice, though I didn't catch her name. We'll be back :)

It was incredibly hot in Torquay, so having a fan in the clean, spacious, comfortable room was a relief. The central location worked well for exploring, though the town is hilly. Staff knew the local restaurants and activities and were honest about them. Breakfast was extraordinarily good, with plenty of choices for everyone. Thanks for making my birthday special. I'd definitely recommend the place and return.

The place is worn out and tired from top to bottom. The shower, TV and room door were among the many broken things. I can accept that for £80 a night, and the 10-minute walk to central Torquay is another fair point. But giving guests a 3pm check-in and then having no staff at the hotel until after 4pm is unacceptable to me. It was locked, so we couldn't wait inside, and ended up standing on the steps for over an hour. Nobody told us no one would be there. We just arrived and had to wait. Not good.
