Lincombe Hall Hotel & Spa - Just for Adults

The room was cosy and clean, and the food was delicious with fantastic service. The staff looked after us so well from arrival to departure. We loved the beautiful, spotless spa too. I had a facial and head massage and felt like I was on cloud nine. It was an early Valentine’s treat for ourselves, and we absolutely loved it. We’re coming back in May for my birthday. I ended up leaving early because I wasn’t enjoying the stay, and I certainly wouldn’t return. The price was exorbitant and nowhere near worth it. My room was very basic and only acceptably clean overall, with toothpaste and hair left in the sink. The building was incredibly noisy, so it didn’t feel relaxing. The spa needs refurbishment, with lots of missing tiles, and the cleaning needs more attention. Service was good overall, but nobody went above and beyond. I did appreciate the Temple Spa toiletries and the tea and coffee selection in the room. The food, though, was atrocious and extremely overpriced. I paid £23 for pasta, and it was the worst restaurant meal I’ve ever had.

The treatments were both good, with no complaints there, though we sat waiting for a long time at an unattended spa reception without any information or welcome. The spa itself was clean and well appointed, but small, and the pool wasn’t big enough for lots of people to swim properly. We came specifically for a spa break and weren’t blown away. For what we paid, the room was disappointing: dated, in need of some TLC, and not luxurious, especially the shower. There was no room service. The bed was too hard for me, and I slept badly, waking groggy and tired instead of refreshed. Staff were pleasant and the food was good, which was a plus, though the menu could use more healthy or lighter options. The afternoon tea was nice, but I felt the sweets outweighed the savoury choices and would have liked more savoury options. We’ve paid the same for other spa breaks and had a much better experience, so this didn’t feel like value for money. Parking also cost £15 per night, which felt like a complete rip-off for guests. I won’t be returning.

We only stayed one night, but we’re already planning to come back for two. The Signature room was spacious and nice, the food was great with generous portions and a good choice, and the drinks menu was good value. We enjoyed the spa as well. A lovely hotel, with friendly, helpful staff and nothing to complain about.
