The Belmont

We had to leave early because of a personal situation, but we’d happily return another time. Abi and her partner were caring and considerate, especially with our baby, and did a brilliant job hosting us. Our room was spacious, comfortable, lovely, and very clean. The B&B is just a few minutes’ walk from town, and the price was amazing. Thanks again, hope to see you soon.

The stairs are worth keeping in mind, there are quite a lot, but we found homemade biscuits waiting in our room. I forgot to try them, though I’m sure they were lovely! A little table by the entrance had Scrabble and chess, hot water bottles, blankets, umbrellas, and plates and cutlery for takeaways. They’d thought of so many things to help guests feel comfortable. The owners were brilliant with our anxious dog. They offered her a bowl and bed, let us come down early for breakfast, and even gave her gluten-free sausage so it wouldn’t upset her tummy. Breakfast was really good, with an advance order menu that included extra dishes. I’m not a morning person, but the food made me want to get up. It’s also close to the seafront. Thank you both for making us feel so welcome and safe. We’d definitely stay again.

The breakfast was wonderful, with a great selection, and the welcome from Andy and Abi was lovely. They couldn’t do enough for us while we were there. The Belmont is only a few minutes’ walk from the beach, and has recently been taken over by them. They’ve been renovating and adding thoughtful touches throughout the rooms and shared areas, from reusable shopping bags and umbrellas to high quality bedding and towels. It’s a special place to stay, and we’ll be back to see more of the local attractions.

Being so dog friendly was the main reason we picked the Belmont, and Abi was great with our dogs. They had bowls, comfy beds, spare towels, treats, and even a sausage at breakfast while they sat with us. Abi also shared a list of dog-friendly places and places to eat. We tried one of her suggestions and it was fantastic. Our first visit to Torquay was quiet at night, which mattered as we’re light sleepers. The location is handy too, with places to eat, drink, and buy groceries right outside, and more to explore around the harbour. We found the Belmont through BringFido and are already talking about coming back next year. Abi, Andy, and Finlay were fantastic hosts. Breakfast had a huge choice, including full English, veggie full English, eggs benedict, croissants, cereal, juices, and coffee. It was all cooked perfectly and came out quickly in the comfortable breakfast room. Our room was ready on time, clean and tidy, with plenty of space, a large comfy bed, tea and coffee, hot chocolate, and homemade biscuits.
