The Daylesford

The hotel is close to the beach and attractions, and the shower, toilet, towels, bed linen and WiFi were all fine. Parking was difficult, though: there are only three very narrow bays, so finding a place on the road can be a scramble. Breakfast was disappointing. The bacon, sausages, bread and tomatoes seemed cheap, and the small jam pots had already been opened and used by previous guests. Be careful if you order an omelette: I like chilli, but there was far too much, or I hadn’t expected any. Smoked salmon and a choice of fruit juices were listed on the menu, but we were told they weren’t available and that nobody wanted them, so only orange juice was offered. Jessie seemed to be struggling to manage everything at the hotel on her own.

Jessie was pleasant, and the rooms were clean, but the bed was much too hard for us. Breakfast was poor too: the bread was stale once, the milk had curdled, we had to ask for sauce, and the juice had run out. She’s only been there a year, and we felt she could use a bit more organization. The bed really needs to be softer.

Our room at The Daylesford was modern and clean, and the food was great. Jane and Martin looked after us very well during our short stay. Definitely worth five stars.
