The sunken hot tub was a real highlight. I loved having coffee there in the morning while looking out over the gardens, or a drink in the evening on the lovely verandah. It was so peaceful, with chickens from the nearby farm sometimes wandering over and birds darting through the trees. The cabin itself is beautiful and has plenty of room. There are three bedrooms, including one with an en suite walk-in shower, another with twin beds and a separate bathroom with a bath, and a third with bunk beds, a single above a double. The mattresses were super comfy. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the dining area has a great table, a leather L-shaped couch and a TV with all the channels you could want. You come down a country track to your own drive, with parking for several cars and lovely gardens and land around you.

The lodge had everything we needed, apart from a cheese grater. There’s just one shower, and it’s in an en suite, which could be awkward with five adults. We didn’t mind, though, since we’re all good friends. It’s a peaceful spot and handy for lots of lovely places in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Our hosts communicated well before and during the stay, and were kind about check-in times. Thanks for a lovely stay!

There was loads of space on the peaceful grounds, enough for us to have a chocolate hunt, and all we could hear nearby was sheep and geese. The hot tub was a big bonus, especially for my three boys. There’s also a caravan park over the back with a shop, pub, park and birds of prey that the boys loved. I was a bit nervous about Covid, but the lodge was spotless and had lots of cleaning products ready for us. The kitchen was especially well equipped, with everything from a tin opener and bottle opener to slow cookers and pizza cutters. Having two bathrooms was a huge help. The owner kept in touch by phone because of the Covid restrictions, and the local information book was really useful. We’ll most certainly be back!
