Sentry Mead

The owners were very happy for us to bring back a takeaway and eat in the dining room or our room. They even provided cutlery, glasses and condiments in the dining room, which I thought was really generous. It looked out over their lovely garden, too. Everything was perfectly clean, and we had an amazing time at the Sentry Mead Hotel. The room was enormous, the bed comfortable and the bathroom very spacious, with a nice bath. The staff were super attentive and breakfast was brilliant. This side of the island is quieter than the east coast, but bus connections were very good. There’s a stop about a three-minute walk away, with buses running roughly every 30 minutes along the coast, and the Needles Breezer stops there too. It’s close to Totland Bay beach, with some nice walks nearby. I don’t expect we’ll return to West Isle of Wight, but if we do, I’m sure we’d stay here again.

The hotel and location were both quiet, and we were lucky to have dinner at one of the local restaurants along the promenade. It’s also close to the Needles and related attractions. The whole place has recently been refurbished, and it shows. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a pillow menu as a nice extra. We had a lovely stay and I’d recommend the hotel.

Breakfast had a wide choice of fresh food, with options for different diets as well. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean, and the newly refurbished hotel is finished to an excellent standard. Definitely a five-star hotel!

We only stayed one night on Saturday, but we’ll be back soon and for longer. The room, Totland, was gorgeous, with a beautiful view of the bay from the bedroom windows. The bed was so comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The beach is just moments away. Carole and Andrew were lovely, friendly and welcoming hosts. I’d highly recommend a stay here.
