The Waterman's Arms

The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented, and breakfast was generous and fresh. Our room was spotless, warm and comfortable, the kind of place where you relax as soon as you arrive. The new landlord and landlady were welcoming and attentive, and clearly care about making guests feel at home. The Watermans Arms has a gorgeous, peaceful setting beside the historic bridge, with the river running right alongside. A great place for a meal and a comfortable night near Totnes. We’ll definitely be back.

We had dinner on our first evening, then breakfast the next morning and Sunday lunch, and all of it was incredible. The staff were lovely and the service was 10/10. Our room was clean and lovely, with very comfortable beds and an incredible river view. We stayed one night over the weekend and it made for a perfect getaway. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area or need somewhere to stay!

We had a flat tyre as we were leaving, and the team let us wait in the bar, made us tea, and we ended up staying for some unexpectedly fabulous food, practically Michelin standard. The owner and staff are amazing, really friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us. It’s a beautiful spot, with a brilliant bar and comfortable, well-equipped rooms with super comfy mattresses and pillows. Thank you, team at Watermans arms, for making our short stay so wonderful and exceeding every expectation. Highly recommend staying, stopping for a drink or coming for food. Definitely try the food, you won’t be disappointed.

This was my second visit, after staying here last year, but the owners had changed. The food was good and the rooms were clean, though the TVs are a bit small. Prices have gone up, and £5 for a Coke is a lot. Breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30, too late if you’re here on business. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t stay again.
