Amblehurst Hotel

The staff were pleasant, but we spent three nights here and won’t be back. The room was stale, and there was mold on the bath and tiles. It felt like a Ukrainian jail. There were smack heads living downstairs, and an obvious prostitute was allowed in with a blind man. They were making a lot of noise right opposite our door, and we could hear her down the hall too. The beer lines hadn’t been cleaned and the beer tasted off.

We booked breakfast, which turned out to be a bad idea. The cutlery wasn’t clean, and on our second day there was still rubbish on the table from the day before. My friend’s napkin was the used one from the previous day. Our room hadn’t been cleaned properly either, with hair and bread crumbs still on the table. The receptionist wasn’t very polite and didn’t even say hello. The hotel is small and dated, though with a little effort it could be nice. It wouldn’t take much for the staff to be friendlier and keep the cutlery and tables clean. We won’t stay again.

The food was alright, apart from the bacon being hard. Service was quick and easy, and the employees were polite. But the place is run down, with carpets coming away from the floor in most rooms, uncomfortable beds, a rusty shower rail and a bathroom shelf that was falling off. There weren’t enough towels, and the hallways smelled awful, like wet dog, damp and cigarettes. Guests were noisy in the early hours too.

It’s temporary housing for people experiencing homelessness, arranged by Trafford council, so it isn’t a normal hotel. Most of the staff are okay, though a few act as if they’re better than everyone else. The place is managed very badly.
