The gardens are a lovely place to visit, though they seem like they could use a bit of TLC. We kept losing the trail because the signs are so poor. You can think you're following the right path and then realize you missed a turn half a mile earlier. The map doesn't help much either since it isn't to scale. The lily pond is hard to read: it looks as if it's being renovated or demolished, and all the plants around it have been completely cleared.

The gardens are lovely for a stroll or walking the dog, and there’s a park and outdoor seating that would work well for a picnic. There’s also a cafe serving food and drinks. The location is fantastic. The rooms were clean but a little dated, and the courtyard rooms had no TV or other entertainment. I wouldn’t choose to stay overnight again.

We went during a busy Xmas fair, and it seemed to be run well. There was a huge queue at the cafe, so we didn’t try it, though I imagine it was nice. Lovely place to visit.

The beds are comfortable, and there’s plenty of room for your things. The staff seem lovely too. But in room 406, the bath was full of hair and dirt, and the blinds and windows had dead flies and moths all over them. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I haven’t stayed at the hotel, but I always enjoy walking around the beautiful grounds. The cafe and courtyard make a great spot for a bite or a cake, and it’s really dog friendly. They’ve also recently put in bike parking, which makes it a handy stop for cyclists.
