We had the whole patch of grounds to ourselves, since we were the only guests there at the time. It was so peaceful and private, with a couple of hammocks, a badminton net, and a box of games that gave us a good laugh. There were deck chairs, a bench with a parasol, and a BBQ too. And the views from behind the pod over the hills and into the distance were lovely. My partner surprised me with two nights in Idris for my birthday, from 16th - 18th July 2022. I'd never stayed in a pod before, but it was cosy, comfortable for two, and really nicely decorated. It was spotless, and the Zoflora smell stayed around throughout our visit. The host had thought of so many useful things: hiking sticks, shampoo and body wash, cleaning supplies, a sewing kit, even postage stamps. We had tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, crisps, and nuts waiting for us, which I hadn't expected in a self-catering stay and really appreciated. There were plenty of good books, and an Alexa linked to Spotify plus an Amazon Fire Stick with apps like Amazon and Netflix. We loved our stay and have already talked about coming back.

The setting is beautiful and quiet, and we really enjoyed staying as a couple in this larger-than-average pod. It has a double recliner sofa, an electric heater and wood burner, plus a microwave, double hotplate, separate shower, sink, toilet, and fridge. There’s no freezer, though, so plan for that. A box of games is provided, and there’s a bench up the hill where you can watch the sunset over Conwy Bay. Dogs are welcome. The two pods are close together, but that didn’t bother us, even with dogs staying in both. Getting there can be tricky if you’re not comfortable reversing on the narrow single-track roads when a tractor or other traffic blocks the way.

The views behind the pods are stunning, and it’s lovely to step out with your morning coffee. The grounds are pleasant to wake up to, with hammocks to enjoy on a nice day. Jo and Sion were friendly and helpful, and it’s clear they’ve put a lot of care into decorating the pods. They’re well equipped, from cooking basics and towels to local guide maps, LED candles, and a torch by the door for nighttime. For modern comforts, there are USB charging ports, WiFi, Amazon Fire TV, and a built-in voice assistant. My wife and I enjoyed asking it to play music while cooking or relaxing. The first drive in can feel a bit daunting, but that’s part of reaching such a secluded spot. Trust Google Maps even if you start wondering whether the route can be right. It gets you there.

The host was friendly, and this is a lovely retreat with lots of handy extras. The torch, umbrella, and walking sticks came in useful when I walked up Snowdon. They'd also left coal for the BBQ, logs for the burner, and a fan for warm nights. I'd definitely recommend it.

The grounds were a hit with my dog, who wanted to run around and play ball from dawn to dusk. There are two hammocks for relaxing with one of the good selection of books in the pod, too. I stayed for a week and really loved it. The pod was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed, including a fast internet connection linked to Alexa, Netflix, and Amazon Prime for downtime. I had hours of fun telling Alexa, “I am your father.” There’s also a wood-burning stove, a shower, a fridge, and an electric stovetop. My dog thoroughly loved the place.
