Chance was so attentive in the restaurant, and Millie at the spa was a delight. Hannah and Beth gave us such a warm welcome too. Hannah’s cheerfulness felt completely genuine, and every member of the team helped make the stay special. We had a lovely room with a sea view, and the spa was gorgeous. Sunday lunch was splendid, and the food was fantastic throughout. The bakery treats, all made on site, were second to none. We came for a one night winter break and left feeling we’d had exactly the rest we needed. There was nothing I could fault. We’ll be back.

That steak is still on my mind. The sear was spot on, with garlic butter melting over it, Parmesan fries alongside and a dark, rich peppercorn sauce. The waiter said the steak was locally sourced, though what really stood out to me was how well it was cooked. Every mouthful was ridiculously good. Before it, we had scallops with roasted cauliflower, creamy parmesan sauce and crispy bacon pieces. They were the best scallops I’ve ever had, and the steak that followed was the best I’ve eaten too. My wife and I went to The Wild Cafe during a packed Valentine’s Day service, yet everything came out flawlessly. What a treat. I arrived married, and left wondering if I needed to marry the chef as well.

The room had a beautiful view, and the food was very good. The indoor spa was decent, though the jacuzzi could have been hotter. I didn’t complain because the staff were all so lovely. Really, it’s the people who turned a good hotel into a great one. Dave at reception, the woman in the outdoor spa, the dinner server with the big earrings whose name I’ve forgotten, the cleaners including Molly, and the managers were all fantastic. I’ve paid twice as much at other top five star hotels and wished they had this level of service. I hope management passes on my thanks. I’ll be telling my business partners and friends to visit. Thank you.

I was really impressed by how kind and welcoming everyone was. I work full time at a hotel myself, so I noticed the care the staff put into their hospitality. They were friendly, generous and accommodating from the moment I arrived. It was just one night for my birthday, but such a lovely experience. The location is stunning, with plenty to see and do. Breakfast and lunch were both wonderful, with food quality and choice that really surprised me. The spa was peaceful and relaxing too. Thanks so much to all the staff. I’ll definitely come back soon.

Breakfast was busy, but the buffet was really tasty, with lovely views, high quality food and some unusual options. The spa was good and the staff there were welcoming, though the facilities aren’t as plush or exclusive as at some places. If that’s what you’re after, try their sister hotel Scarlet. There’s a relaxed feel here, and dogs and children are welcome. The public rooms are nice, with comfy sofas and a tranquility room, and the location is great. There are thoughtful extras too, like a complimentary 0800 wellness class for guests. We’re likely to return and would definitely recommend it.
