Thank you to South Beach for helping us through such a difficult day. We booked a funeral tea last week, and from the straightforward booking to the exceptional service on the day, everything was handled so well. Staff welcomed guests at the front door, took their jackets and kept everyone informed about what was happening and when. The drinks and buffet were very much appreciated, especially the chicken tempura and steak pies, which were clear favourites. It was a lovely place to raise a glass in celebration of our loved one.

The staff were first class, the rooms lovely and the beds comfortable. Dinner was excellent, and the scrambled egg and toast were beautifully done. Our only fault was the drafts in rooms 234 and 235: the window in 234 was warped, while the small window in 235 wouldn’t close. We also forgot the fresh roses we’d picked up last night and left them in the bathroom in room 234. 😮💨

Murray at reception made us feel very welcome when we popped in on Sunday. We had a very nice coffee before heading back out to finish our walk.

We came as a group for summer afternoon tea, and the staff were very friendly. Nothing seemed to be a problem. The hotel is beautiful, with care taken to keep it as authentic as possible. The tea spread was amazing: a warm sausage roll each, a huge tray of sandwiches, plus home-baked scones with jam and cakes. Paying was easy too. I’d highly recommend coming back.

We were a group of 22 and everyone was delighted with the hotel. It’s right on the beach, with only a short walk into town, and the food was varied, amazing and prepared perfectly. The service was the best part. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It’s clearly a family-run hotel with old-school customer service.
