What a belter of a Scottish breakfast, with a perfect portion of beans at a time when lots of places seem to skimp on them. I didn't stay overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms. It's a family-run place, very tidy and quiet, with a warm welcome even during off times. It's golf themed and has a really well thought out whiskey guide for tourists. The place has been going since school and has been added to over the years. There are no dogs, and it has a different clientele now. It would work well for companies putting people up overnight or for a few days, and for tourists wanting a base to explore from before Braemar and beyond. It may be little known to tourists because it's tucked away in what's now a sprawling industrial estate, though it offers competitive prices and nice surroundings. Times have changed, and Pinehurst has changed along with them. A strong habit of continual improvement and a careful work ethic have helped it succeed as markets shift. I'm glad places like this are still around. Recommended!

Once you're in from the industrial estate, it's a nice setting, with plenty of parking and good-looking outdoor areas. Inside feels a bit dated, but it's clean and welcoming. The food and service are both just okay, nothing bad and nothing special. It's decent value, though, and a good shout for basic pub grub.

There's a good range at the bar, and in summer the benches on the lawn are a lovely place to sit. The peaceful outdoor area has some sweet ornaments, and they're happy to bring food out there. The sharing nachos were huge, enough for a family, and really good value. The restaurant feels a little stuck in the olden days, but that's part of its charm. From the moment you arrive, you're made to feel welcome. There's a decent-sized menu with something for most people, and prices are reasonable for the setting. I'll definitely return, and it's worth taking a detour to visit.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. The roast beef was top class and cooked perfectly, and all our meals were high quality. Thank you.

By the end of our three days, I’d warmed to the place, even though my first impression wasn’t great. It has the feel of a standard work hotel for people heading offshore by helicopter, and the breakfast and evening menu fit that sort of stay. I’d come back.
