The Nare

The Quarterdeck restaurant has a fabulous ocean-front view, and the decor and service were excellent too. We had a lovely afternoon celebrating our anniversary over a sumptuous three-course lunch, nicely presented and made with wonderfully fresh ingredients. We're local, so we didn't stay at the hotel. We'll definitely go back, and next time we'd like to try the afternoon tea.

We stayed three days in a sea-view room and enjoyed the whole experience. The location and outlook from the rooms were great, and the staff made things feel personal and treated everyone well. We also had afternoon tea with scones, jam, and cream each day. The dining was on a level you'd expect from a major city restaurant, and the staff were exceptional. We'd certainly recommend it for couples.

It may suit people who like a very polished, upmarket atmosphere. I found the place polite, but not genuinely welcoming, especially as a non-resident visitor. I can't quite explain the feeling, but it came across as a bit 'up themselves' rather than truly hospitable. It seems to aim for high standards, which is why I wish I could be more enthusiastic, but something felt off.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, and we had lovely sea views. The staff were very attentive too. A great place to stay.
