The fish and chips for my mother had wonderfully crisp batter, with that audible crunch you hope for and rarely find. My husband’s roast cod came with plenty of accompaniments, all balanced nicely in flavour and texture. I had the plump Cornish mussels with leeks, bacon rather than lardons, cider and cream, a combination I really enjoyed. We paired everything with the house Gascogne, a light, fruity wine that suited the dishes. It was a delightful midweek birthday lunch in a stunning location.

Good quality food and generous portions, and you do get what you pay for. My husband is vegetarian, so I wasn't expecting much from the lentil roast, but it turned out to be delicious. The staff were great, and it's very dog friendly. I'd definitely recommend it.

The river views were a lovely extra, and the owners were kind, helpful, and accommodating with allergies. We came here after giving up on another local pub after the starters, and wished we'd chosen this place from the start. The food was so good it had us doing a happy wiggle. Hats off to chef Dan Morris and the local produce. They'd clearly put plenty of thought into finding excellent wines to go with the food. Prices might look a little high at first, but we thought it was well worth it. A great place to eat, drink and unwind.

The journey may take you off the beaten track, but as someone who takes food seriously, I can say it’s well worth it. Booking was easy, and we had a perfect window table. The glassware and tableware gleamed, and we were greeted with a warm smile. There was a good range on the menu, which suited us since my wife is vegetarian and I eat meat. Service was spot on, and everything arrived beautifully presented. I had arancini, asparagus and cheesecake. The ingredients showed real care from the Chef, and the plating was imaginative. The wine list offered good options at reasonable prices. As a former Restaurant and Hotel Inspector, I’m being completely honest when I say this is somewhere serious food lovers will want to return to. I’ve attached the menu and photos of what we ordered. Seriously well done to The Maltsters.

A really lovely stay and dinner. The meal was delicious, the room was very comfortable, and all the staff were friendly. Our dog was made to feel welcome too. I'd highly recommend it for a romantic escape.
