The balloons were simple ones you could blow up by mouth, but the owner said he wouldn't have time and couldn't find the pump, and told me I'd have to inflate them myself and bring them in. I'd stopped by the day before our birthday booking for 11 to ask if they could be blown up. That response felt rude and unaccommodating, so I cancelled. If they can't help with a few balloons for a group of 11, they don't deserve our custom.

My wife and mother-in-law had a dramatic tyre blowout and pulled into the big, empty car park in an emergency. The owner immediately told them it was private property and the premises were closed, then demanded they leave and drive back out onto the busy A40 to find a lay-by to change the wheel. I would have expected someone decent to check whether two women in a vulnerable situation were okay. It's hard to understand that kind of behaviour from someone serving the public.

We live only about 8 miles from this restaurant and somehow had never tried it. We've been missing out: the atmosphere is lovely, the staff are friendly, and the food is great value. We'll definitely be back soon.
