The Lakehouse

Richard made us feel right at home and was attentive and easy to get along with. He even brought us Lakehouse-brewed gin and a bag of pasta after we’d left ours at home. Just remember to bring basics like butter, milk and ketchup, as they aren’t provided. The Lakehouse felt secluded and relaxing enough that we didn’t need to go anywhere all weekend. The lake and hot tub are reason enough to visit, and our dog loved it too. We had a lovely weekend and would like to come back in summer.

Richard was so welcoming and helpful that we didn’t want to leave. We had a brilliant, cosy, peaceful and romantic weekend at The Lakehouse, including a fun gin experience at the distillery. Thanks, Richard. We’ll be back soon!

Richard made our birthday visit extra special, with tips for great places to eat and pinned locations for lovely walks. He really went above and beyond, and we’re already thinking about coming back. The Lakehouse is a calm, cosy place that feels like a little retreat for your wellbeing. You can swim in the lake if you enjoy wild swimming, or just sit beside it and listen to the water. There’s also a hot tub, a big log fire and a kitchen with what you need to cook. The bedroom is tastefully decorated, and the bed is big enough for a family.

The decking is a lovely spot to sit with a glass of gin that Richard made and provided, looking out over the lake. I also loved the hot tub and the little path around the water. Our two dogs had a great time too. My partner treated me to a weekend away for my 50th birthday, and we had an amazing time. Richard welcomed us warmly and showed us around when we arrived. I can see why the place gets so many five-star reviews. I saw one review giving it one star, which seemed completely bonkers to me. If you want a hotel room with a balcony in Dartmouth, go to Dartmouth. For peace, tranquillity and nature in a remarkably well-equipped, luxurious little corner of the world, I’d recommend coming here. I really hope to return soon.
