The Arch Inn

Breakfast was the biggest frustration. At check-in, a staff member told us it would be served from 8:00 to 9:00, but the next morning the restaurant was shut. Several guests, us included, waited about 30 minutes. Nobody came or explained what was happening, so we gave up and bought breakfast elsewhere. The room was poor too. The walls were so thin that nearby doors closing sent vibrations through the place, and the glasses and spoons in our room rattled. A frustrating stay, especially with the breakfast information turning out to be misleading.

A decent pub that serves food and is known for live music. It was already pretty busy by 6pm on a Friday. There isn’t much natural light, which probably suits a late night session. I stopped in on my travels and had half a Tennants.

We booked a few weeks ahead, but nobody told us there’d be a Christmas party in the bar, limited access, a closed restaurant, and no hot breakfast. The breakfast room was almost dark, and we couldn’t get any more lights switched on. We could hear the party noise from our room. If we’d known all that, we would have cancelled. Poor communication.

We were three in the family and I booked a room for four. It was a little expensive, but the rest was great. Someone at the entrance cheerfully showed us the way, then a young man fetched the keys, took us upstairs, and pointed out where breakfast was served. The room was quiet, the bed very comfortable, and breakfast was quite good. When we left, we spent half the day playing on the beach right by the door. It was beautiful and so relaxing.
