The Crown Inn in Pooley Bridge was easily one of our best pub experiences in the Lake District, and we’ll definitely return. It’s near Ullswater, a great place to stop after a walk or settle in for a long lunch or evening meal. The setting, food and service make it one of the best pubs in Pooley Bridge. The team clearly care about the guest experience. Ethan and the other staff took time to get to know us and help with anything they could, from local walks to places to visit. Everyone was friendly, professional and attentive without being intrusive, so we felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. The food was freshly prepared, beautifully presented and full of flavour. There was plenty of choice, and everything we ordered exceeded expectations. The drinks selection was excellent too, with a brilliant range of local ales and premium drinks. A warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout. I’d highly recommend The Crown Inn to anyone visiting Pooley Bridge or the Lake District for great food, service and atmosphere.

We’ve been to the Crown twice now, and the rooms were exactly as the website photos led us to expect, as well as extremely comfortable. The food was very enjoyable, with plenty of choices and a special menu alongside the main one. The location is fantastic for visiting Ullswater and beyond. Every member of staff was awesome on both trips. We were made to feel welcome from the start, and they couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was great. Can’t wait for visit number three!

A great winter break for two nights at the inn. The little one loved it, the food was superb, and the staff were very friendly. The location is second to none. Big thanks to Aimee and the team.

The chicken Caesar salad was really nice, and I’d recommend booking a table. Great food in a perfect spot, with a stunning outdoor area by the river. Prices were a little high, but that’s to be expected in this tourist trap area. Dog friendly.

I used this pub as a base for working in Penrith, only 6 miles away, and will definitely be back. The rooms are excellent, and the dining area backs onto the river. It’s very close to Poole Bridge, with views of Ullswater Lake. The pub staff were very friendly, the food was very good and I enjoyed every meal. Loved the log fires lit every night.
