We could head out for walks almost every day straight from the house, which worked well for our extended family. The setting feels idyllic. The website shows the lovely house and spectacular views, but doesn't convey how peaceful it is. The road from Pooley Bridge is a dead end, so there's very little traffic, and it gets completely quiet at the start and end of the day.

We were after privacy and a bit of luxury, and found both at Waternook. The house and barn were beautifully furnished with top-quality accommodation, and the location and views are amazing. Four generations of our family stayed last week and had a wonderful time. Peter Sidwell came to cook a fab meal one evening as a special treat. I don't think there's a better spot in the Lakes. Just stunning, and we'd definitely recommend it.

The kids made the most of the hot tub and cinema room, while my wife and I enjoyed the space and quiet. We stayed with family for a long weekend at the end of August 2020, in the beautiful barn and house. I even got to cast a few flies by the water for some of Ullswater's wild trout. The countryside around this part of the Lake District is amazing. On our walks we spotted otters, red squirrels, buzzards and a peregrine falcon.

We’ve stayed at Waternook twice now and love it here. We had a great week in July, with fab weather, after two occasions had been cancelled because of Covid. The lodge is lovely and close to a lake. There are two double bedrooms with walk-in wardrobes, one of them en-suite, plus a twin room and a separate bathroom with a shower over the bath. Towels are included. The open-plan lounge includes the dining area and kitchen, and the patio leads to a veranda that gets sun all day. It’s a lovely, clean park. We’ll be back.

Privacy, tranquility, excellent house facilities, lovely walks and breathtaking views made for an enchanting family holiday. Waternook on Ullswater is a beautiful property in a stunning lakeside setting, and our family had a wonderful time enjoying its facilities. Dee & Geoff and family
