What a great find. The rooms were a good size, with a lovely boutique finish, and breakfast was wonderful. Ann and her daughter were so helpful and lovely. We’ll definitely be back.

We only stayed one night at Old Daltongate House, but had a lovely time. The house is over 500 years old, and the refurbishment keeps its character while making it feel modern and comfortable. Our room was quiet and nicely presented, with a lovely en-suite. The hosts were warm and helpful, and kept in touch well. They let us park our motorcycle securely at the back, which we really appreciated. They also know the area well and took time to chat and share ideas for places to visit. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, cooked to order, with vegetarian options. Ulverston is a lovely town, and we’d definitely come back to this guest house for its lovely hosts.

We called on the off chance of finding a room after another local hotel had given us a night of hell. The owners of this immaculate, stunning guest house had us sorted within minutes. Everything was quirky and top quality, and the breakfast was outstanding. I’ll be back!

Ulverston was buzzing on a Wednesday evening. We didn’t get to explore the next day because the weather was awful, though there looked to be lovely independent shops and cafes around. For dinner, The Farmers just down the road and Bengal Rose Indian Restaurant were both recommendations, and Bengal Rose was excellent. The property is the oldest building in Ulverston and is lovingly looked after, with top-quality furnishings. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great and breakfast was excellent. I’d stay again.

The Farmers, just around the corner, was a good spot for dinner. Old Daltongate House is right in the centre of town, and made a great base for our one-night stay in Ulverston. We had excellent hospitality, well-appointed rooms and a great breakfast. I’d recommend it for a trip to Ulverston or the South Lakes.
