The hosts were kind and helpful, and this cottage makes a lovely base for seeing the countryside and going hiking. It has the feel of stepping into an old romantic novel, while still offering modern comforts. The 16th-century style has been kept intact, with practical touches like Wi-Fi, electricity, plugs and a fully equipped bathroom cleverly fitted in. I loved how thoughtfully the old and new work together. Don’t miss the chance to stay here.

Getting around the Lake District was easy from this B&B, with Coniston and the surrounding area close by. Parking was straightforward, too. The property is quirky, distinctive and well cared for. My room was clean, cosy and had everything I needed to feel at home. The hosts were friendly, helpful and full of useful information. They’d thought of the little details that made a difference, and cooked a superb breakfast each morning. I had a really comfortable stay and would highly recommend it.
