The venue is nice and the view is amazing, which makes this such a shame. My mother’s food was okay, but she had to eat it cold and on her own. My wife’s throat became scratchy towards the end of the meal, and when we asked whether the vegetables were cooked together, we were told they’d been made in a fresh pan with only carrots and sweetcorn. That wasn’t true, as there were bits of courgette in it. My toddler son and I both have issues with dairy, and my wife is allergic to green greens. We clearly told the staff about these allergies, and they acknowledged them. But my wife’s plate arrived with green beans, and my steak was soaked in butter. When we reminded them, they brought her plate back after just removing the beans, which isn’t acceptable when allergies are involved. My steak came back supposedly dairy-free, but still had a distinct blue cheese flavour. My wife’s throat luckily cleared up after an antihistamine. I hate leaving a bad review for a local business, but allergies are serious and shouldn’t be messed about with. We have quite a few allergies and intolerances, and weren’t offered an allergen menu at any point. The owner later replied that I hadn’t mentioned gluten to the waitress, though I explicitly did. That’s another untruth, and it’s ridiculous to deflect this onto me.

We had a twin room with a sea view and balcony, and the views were wonderful both day and evening. The balcony is shared with other rooms. We didn’t notice anyone passing by, though for privacy it’s best to keep the curtains closed while dressing 😅. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. It’s dog-friendly, with plenty of walks nearby. Shops and amenities are close, but it was peaceful and quiet during our weekend there.

We had an evening meal with a friend in a lovely setting with great views, and the experience felt unhurried. We ordered calamari and king prawn linguine, venison sausages, a selection of veg, and two beers. It came to £73.

The estuary kept us interested from the room, whether we were watching the tide, birds, sunrise, or a storm. The views were exceptional. We really enjoyed the restaurant too, with some very different choices. We picked the veggie menu even though we’re not vegetarian. I had stuffed peppers and my wife had the nut and mushroom pancakes, both were grand. Five stars all round. You must go, but leave room for us!

The staff were very friendly, but the place felt old, dated, and quite run down. We came for a meal and the food was nothing special, I’ve had better. I wouldn’t go again or recommend it.
