The Mole Resort - Lodges

The lodge had loads of room, a really good kitchen and a modern, well finished feel. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pottery painting, and parking was easy. On arrival, though, we found 25 flies, alive and dead, in the main room. One door was broken and wouldn't shut or lock, which we think was how they got in. Bring your own hot tub towels, and maybe extras for a longer visit, since changing them costs more.

We had a good weekend here, and the staff were flexible and helpful. We asked for tea and scones in the restaurant, even though they weren't listed on the menu, and got them at a fair price. I'd like to see them added, as they belong with a Devon cream tea. The lodge was clean, in good shape and nicely equipped, with a hot tub and well kept grounds. We could have used a few more glasses, bowls, plates and sets of cutlery, since having exactly four of each meant frequent washing up or dishwasher runs. The pool was fine, but the changing rooms need better ventilation and a refresh. EV charging was a weak spot: both chargers beside the hotel were out of order. Staff pointed us to fast chargers in South Molton, and the Fuuse app showed one near the pool that did work, though VERY slowly. A couple of improvements would make an already good weekend stay even better.

The staff made this a lovely stay. Everyone was smiling and the service was superb. We spent three nights after booking at the last minute, and were so pleased with the place we could have stayed a week or more. The beds were comfy, the accommodation warm, clean and well furnished, and the hot tub was the best. There are activities for all ages in beautiful surroundings. We mostly came to flop and recharge, but Saunton beach was close enough for a trip, and there are nice villages and walks nearby. The pub a couple of minutes up the road didn't give us the warmest welcome, though we liked most of the resort and area. A few tips and small gripes: take an eye mask if light from the smoke alarm might bother you, and ask for two room keys at check-in, since you'll need them to get locker keys at the pool and gym. The pool area and changing rooms could use some touching up, and the takeaway pizzas weren't great.

We had a fantastic, peaceful stay in a really clean, modern lodge. We didn't try the facilities since we weren't travelling with the children, but they looked great. We're thinking of coming back with them sometime.
