Somersal Cottages

We spent four nights at the Granary with three families. There was plenty of room inside and out, several bedrooms and bathrooms, a roomy open-plan dining area and plenty of crockery. The living room sofa was large and comfortable enough for extra sleeping, and the well-kept tennis court was fun for the family. The rural setting and walks all around are beautiful. The place wasn't dirty, but the cleaning seemed superficial, with dust and lots of cobwebs in nearly every room and shower cubicle. The middle bathroom shower drained very slowly, and the three single beds downstairs had flimsy mattresses that made a good night's sleep difficult. The kitchen had no dish rack, one fridge was pushed into a corner where it was hard to open, the pots weren't great quality and some basic utensils were missing. I've stayed in a few luxury places in the UK; this was lovely, but not luxury. My small requests for flexibility were declined straight away. If we have another big family gathering, I'd consider Somersal cottages since space wasn't the issue.

The Stables gave us a very happy weekend for my 80th birthday, and we'll all remember it fondly. The house is spacious, with comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen and a lovely big dining table.

We loved our weekend away with friends here. The place was perfectly clean and had lots of space both inside and out, plus great facilities like a hot tub and tennis courts. It's a perfect location for a weekend away. We'd absolutely come back and recommend booking if you're considering it!

The girls at somersal were so helpful and kept in touch throughout. They had decorated before we arrived for the birthday we were celebrating, and couldn't have done more for us. We stayed at the forge, which was faultless, with beautiful views, plenty of bedrooms and space, and a lovely open-plan living and kitchen area. The location, cleanliness and communication were all spot on. We'll definitely return and recommend it!
