The breakfast was the best part: freshly cooked, well seasoned, with loads of choice. There were breads, sweet continental options, freshly prepared fruit, and a full English hot breakfast you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. Everyone on staff was smiley, welcoming and lovely. I can’t wait to return. Or can I just live here?.... I wish I’d taken photos. I’ve worked in cleaning for years, and our room was cleaned to the highest standard. There was plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits, with homely mugs, not tiny cups. We had a peaceful night’s sleep overlooking the carp pond.

The room cleanliness was well below par for me. There was a lot of limescale in the grotty shower, which looked as though it hadn’t been deep cleaned in a long time. The toothbrush holder was dirty too, and the bed linen was stained. The toilet was clogged as well. I wouldn’t stay again, sorry. The reception staff were so friendly that this is hard to write. The location was great, in a lovely small English town, and it was a 10-15 minute drive to Alton towers, which was ideal. Free parking was another plus, and the staff I met were very helpful. The first conversation with staff about the toilet was embarrassing, but they handled it well. They gave me a key to another room so we had a toilet to use, and when we left they gave us a box of chocolates as an apology. A very nice touch, and the staff are hard to fault.

Breakfast was delicious, though I’d have preferred to serve myself instead of having someone portion out the food. I understand wanting to avoid waste, but it felt awkward asking for more each time something was put on the plate. The hotel is very pleasant and charming, with friendly, helpful staff. Freda was especially kind and went above and beyond to help. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although those at the rear, away from the main manor, can be tricky to find, particularly with the local one way system. We stayed for Alton Towers, a convenient 17 minute drive away. Check-in was so late and check-out so early that it felt like we barely had any time at the hotel. It was a pleasant trip, and I’d consider staying again because of the staff. Perhaps the check-in and check-out times could be reconsidered.

The family room was spacious even with three beds, very clean, and had all the basic things we needed. Breakfast offered both cooked food and a continental selection, and both were very good. The host was welcoming and gave us exceptional service throughout. This was a stress-free stay, just as we’d hoped. The guest house is a real gem, right in the centre of Cheadle, which was perfect for our weekend at Alton Towers, around a 15 minute drive away. We also made use of the free on-site parking and enjoyed the garden. I’d highly recommend it and would book again when we’re in the area. Thanks for a great stay!

We had a family room for one night on a trip to Alton Towers, and it had everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely, and the family who run the hotel were so kind and made us feel very welcome. We’d definitely come back if we were in the area again.
