The apartments have a good size and layout, but the sewage smell in the building was unbearable. We were gagging on the way to our room, and it gradually seeped in and lingered all night. We were freezing for much of the night too, as the room didn’t heat well. The cheap TVs wouldn’t connect to my Fire Stick. Without the smell, the rooms could have been great, but it made for a really unpleasant stay.

The apartment was filthy, with dirty towels and bedding, food left on the floor despite being told it had been deep cleaned, stained sofa cushions and broken furniture. It also smelled musty throughout. The kettle was so disgusting we washed a pan and used that for tea instead. Even the complimentary biscuits were a year past their sell-by date, and a leaking skylight left water across the kitchen floor. This was meant to be my birthday weekend, but after arriving we spent the evening looking for another place at short notice instead of going out to celebrate. When we called to complain, the staff seemed disinterested and said clean towels and bedding couldn’t be brought until the next day. They refused a refund and offered a discount on a future stay. I wouldn’t stay again, even for free. I should have checked the reviews on booking.com first.
