As a solo traveller, I can't recommend the staff highly enough. I left a small bag of valuables in my room by accident, the first time that's happened to me, and reception patiently handled my many calls about it. The manager kindly made sure it got back to me and saved me a round trip of over four hours. The team were friendly and the service was great value. My Premium room was spacious, nicely decorated and clean, with faster internet and a couple of mini Divine chocolate bars. The small extra charge felt well worth it. Heating was easy to control and worked well, though the bathroom needed the door left open for a while to warm up. Free parking, a handy location and a nice quiet atmosphere were all welcome. Breakfast was excellent too, and the waitress stayed friendly and smiling despite so few people saying please or thank you.

Parking was easy even though I arrived late, and the location is very convenient. But the radiator made terrible noises all night, even with earplugs in. The redesigned room is fine for a leisure stay, though the table's much too small for working. I'll check hotel layouts more carefully when booking work trips from now on. Premier Inn may have lost a regular customer.

Room 316 was clean and comfortable, but I barely slept. The radiator kept pinging all night like an alarm clock. Reception didn't seem very interested, and I left feeling tired.

Liz and the rest of the team were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast on site was superb, and there's a pub next door. The recently refurbished rooms were spotless, with no corners cut on the facilities: hair dryer, coffee making gear and an excellent TV. The rooms and corridors were quiet too.

I was working nearby for a week and have stayed here for the same reason before, so most things were as expected. A couple of times the TV remote didn't work at all, though it might have been the TV itself. The black pudding at breakfast was so poor I stopped asking for it after the second morning, even though I love it when it's prepared well. On the first night, some guests, possibly drunk, had an argument that seemed to go on forever. I think staff should have stepped in more effectively, more firmly if needed, and even removed them from the hotel.
