The staff are lovely and welcoming, and the rooms are clean. Breakfast and dinner both taste good, but there are things that need attention. Some beds feel like every spring is poking through, the shower leaks, and the poor double glazing does little to block the constant road noise at the front. There was one hand towel and small bath towels; two hand towels and proper bath sheets would be better. Check the meal times carefully too. A fellow guest arrived four minutes late for breakfast and was told he'd missed it, with no flexibility.

The woman working there was kind, lovely and helpful, and the location was pretty good, fairly near the station. My friend and I came from Edinburgh to visit the Yorkshire sculpture park and had a lovely stay. The room was large and comfortable, with a double and a single bed, for a very good price. For just £5 more, we both got WiFi and breakfast included, which was well worth it. The breakfast was tasty and generous, with everything from cereal to a full English.

Breakfast the next morning was good, and the lady serving it was pleasant and extremely helpful. The evening was pretty quiet too. But arriving and checking in was a mixed bag. The entrance is down a back road, where two people were smoking, one of them apparently a staff member. In reception, an older woman wanted her support worker called. Then there was a room mix-up before we were shown to ours, and I was wondering what on earth I'd booked. After we went out for food, staff were smoking out back again, and a man in reception was drinking cans of Fosters. I nearly went elsewhere. Some rooms look like they could be rented as DSS rooms. It's a pity, because the place has potential and some good points, but it won't be my first choice in future.

Some rooms are better than others, and the ones at the front may be noisy if traffic bothers you, since it's on a busy road. Otherwise, it's a perfectly functional B&B at a reasonable price. There's a bottle bar, and they'll make you an evening meal if you ask.

It's much bigger than it looks, and the room was very clean and comfy. The host was the friendliest lady I've ever met and would do anything to make you comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious!
