The pub had a great pint, but when I was in Ben, the roof started falling on me.
The place had a good atmosphere, and they sold a nice selection of drinks. The toilets weren't bad, and at least they were clean, which is the main thing. The decor was a bit bland, all super-magnolia walls, and there were only two TVs for entertainment. The DJ was OK, and there was karaoke on. I didn't use the hotel, thank goodness, since with booking.com I could have ended up meeting anyone up there.
At 11:10 pm, the noise was so bad my bed was shaking and I couldn't think straight. I was there for one night with my two children, and after I asked them to turn it down so the kids could sleep, nothing changed. The staff brushed me off and seemed not to care at all. I've never felt so disregarded as a paying guest. Don't stay here.
The staff were really friendly, and it wasn't as noisy as some people had said. For £40 for two people, the room is great value. Sharing a bathroom isn't ideal, but what can you expect at that price?
I left because I didn't feel safe, and they wouldn't refund me. I was on my own, planning to meet friends, and locals verbally abused me when I arrived for being an 'outsider'. Staff walked past and ignored it. Just avoid.
