There were used drug needles scattered across the window, along with scissors, knives, and other sharp objects. I was horrified. Do they even know how to clean? I’d driven from Scotland and booked because it was already 2 am and I needed a night’s rest. It was the worst night of my life. I slept in my shoes. Toilet paper was on the floor, and bugs were crawling across the bathroom floor, the kind I didn’t know existed. I kept scratching my skin until the next day. I didn’t even use the tap to brush my teeth or wash my face. I left at 8 am, booked another hotel, and finally felt human again. Used drug needles? Come on!

The staff have always been lovely and welcoming to me and my partner, and we’ve stayed for years because it’s convenient and affordable. We’d never really had a reason to complain before. But this time, the room was so filthy we kept our shoes on and felt uncomfortable the whole time. The floor was covered in dirt, and the bathroom wasn’t clean either. It’s a shame, because the staff work hard and I have nothing against any of them. Hygiene that night was very poor.

The duvet was thin, cold, and ripped, and there were no pillows. When we asked for more, they said no, so we had to use our bags. The room was dirty, and the bath coating peeled while you were in it. Groups of men standing by the doors made the place feel unwelcoming. Terrible experience, we won’t stay again.

For the price, it was an okay place to stay while working, and it suited my needs. The staff were brilliant, friendly, and really helpful. The rooms were clean enough, though the walls and paintwork had little chips and scrapes that could use some attention.
