Park Inn by Radisson Birmingham Walsall

In room 241, the team at Park Inn by Radisson made the stay memorable. Steph suggested the BEEF MADRAS, and SK prepared it with loads of flavour. The brownie and ice cream were a perfect finish, too, and I’d recommend trying both dishes. Harpreet, Jamie, and Adam were also wonderful. You can tell when people care about their work, and this team really went above and beyond. Thanks for a great stay!

We arrived around 9:30 on a Friday after booking at the last minute, and the restaurant had already closed. There were still plenty of snacks at the honesty bar, though. The staff were absolutely wonderful late at night, the following morning, and again the next evening. As my partner put it, “Proper people.” The hotel is right by Walsall FC’s stadium, so you may see away fans in the bar before a match, but there’s no need to worry. We loved our stay.

The room itself was very nice, but the bathroom floor became horribly slippery when wet, and I nearly fell in the shower. The beer we ordered tasted like barrel wash, as my husband put it, and the pork scratchings were stale. The young lad and brunette woman working at the bar were both lovely and friendly. We arrived 20 minutes early and Marc rudely told us we couldn’t check in until 3 pm. When my husband asked what we could do meanwhile, Marc glared at him as though we were trash. At checkout, he asked if we were leaving, then snatched the card from my hand and walked away. He didn’t ask about our stay or even manage a polite smile. His rudeness and arrogance completely ruined it for us.

The place felt pretty bleak, though it might do if you need somewhere by the motorway. My room was basic and the TV kept cutting out, while the bar was short on stock. The bigger problem was the parking fine: I entered my car registration at reception, but still got a ticket. I contacted the hotel for help with my appeal and heard nothing, so I had to pay. Be very careful.
