Kemps Country House

We were there for the long weekend, 19th to 22nd Jan 2024. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and nicely furnished, with quality bedding. There’s plenty of secure off-road parking, and lots to explore nearby. Great value, and we’ll definitely book again.

After a day at Monkey World, it was only a short drive here. Everyone on staff was really friendly, and our spacious room had a lovely view and a super king-size bed. The restaurant was well worth eating at. I had one of the best steaks I’ve ever tried, and breakfast was delicious too, cooked to order instead of served buffet-style.

The breakfast was first-rate, and the staff were welcoming, helpful, and knew the local area well. Everything was spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed our short stay and would definitely return.

The beds were good and the location worked well, but the place felt old rather than charming and needs quite a bit of maintenance. Most of the rooms seemed dated to me. I think one room has been renovated, which may explain some of the positive reviews. At breakfast the tablecloth was disposable, giving the room a cheap feel and creating a lot of waste. Some staff were very friendly, while others weren’t as much. There are much nicer places for a better price.
