We stayed in otter 1, and it was quiet and peaceful. Check-in and checkout were easy, communication was good, the room was clean, and the hot tub was hot when we arrived and great to use. Still, at £160 I expected a bit more. There was barely any cutlery and what was there felt flimsy. I couldn’t get hot water in the shower, and later it started dripping loudly at 5am, waking my son and me. The room, especially outside, looks tired. Some bulbs didn’t work, the exterior paint was peeling, and the WiFi didn’t work for us. A little TLC, plus plants or decoration around the hot tub, could make the place much more welcoming. We’d read comments about wildlife but saw none at all, not even bugs for my four year old to spot with his card. The local pub and restaurant was shut and looked run down from outside. We enjoyed our stay and the lodge was clean, but for the price I expected more, and some work could make it much better. Thanks for your hospitality.

We chose the Arc Pod and had a lovely, quiet stay with a beautiful view. Check-in was easy, and we noticed some good improvements since our last visit two years ago. We enjoyed every minute and will definitely come back.

The lodge’s cleanliness was my main issue. It felt like it had only had a quick sweep, with cobwebs in the corners and dead wasps on the floor. For the price, I’d expect a deeper clean. That didn’t spoil my stay, though. The view was gorgeous, the setting private, and the pond full of ducks looked stunning in the sunny weather. It’s also only a three minute drive from Warminster centre, handy for exploring nearby areas.

There are nice walks nearby and the setting is lovely, but we wouldn’t return. Magpie 1 felt tired and poorly kept, and on arrival it smelled strongly of dogs. The windows had dog nose marks on them, and there were bugs in the shower. The bathroom generally needs updating. The kitchen setup was very sparse, with wine or beer glasses but no tumblers, and no dishes for cooking. I felt robes for the hot tubs and extra towels should have been included. It’s described as a “Boutique” lodge, but it didn’t feel that way at all. I feel I was robbed of what I paid for four nights.

It felt uncomfortable from the start because the accommodation was dirty and poorly maintained. The place was cold, with none of the warmth or cosiness I’d hoped for. Dated decor and facilities made it all seem neglected and run down. For the money, it came across as cheap in the bad sense, as if corners had been cut rather than value offered. I was really disappointed and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
