There’s a big courtyard seating area outside, plus a function room, and inside this historic building there are lots of little nooks. It’s a welcoming pub and hotel with a restaurant doing pub favourites as well as very good Thai food. Locals and visitors both come in.

The Thai food and the service were both excellent, but our table placement was disappointing. We’d booked a week ahead and ended up opposite the door to the toilets, outdoor area and function room. It kept being used while we ate, which affected our meal. I could have asked to move, but didn’t realise how much it would bother us until we were already eating.

I went back on Christmas Eve and, sadly, things have changed. It wasn’t as good as it had been. What a shame, after such a good run of visits. Before that, I’d been in several times over a couple of months with my two little pouches. The shaded courtyard was great on hot afternoons, and my first visit in the bar had quick, professional service from approachable staff. It’s an Olde Worlde pub in a fantastic spot just off Warminster’s High Street, very welcoming to dogs, with a doggie menu if wanted. I tried the food on one visit and chose the Lamb Massaman from the specials board. They let me swap the boiled rice for coconut rice without charging extra, and made the dish hotter when I asked. I also had broccoli and carrots with garlic on the side. The new owners have added pub classics alongside Thai food, which seems a sensible addition. The meal arrived in 10 minutes, was cooked just right and served with a smile. The food wasn’t the cheapest, but I felt it was good value for what you got. Portions looked fair rather than huge, so I ordered a side and thought I might have room for dessert. The meal was filling enough that I couldn’t manage one. Maybe next time I’ll plan better and try one of the pub classics. The waitresses were generally friendly and attentive. I was a little surprised no one asked about allergies, though that was a minor oversight to me. There’s a 10% service charge in small print at the bottom of the menu, but they’ll remove it if asked. I asked them to take it off because the service had been so good and I wanted to tip more. One waitress made a comment at the very end that sounded a bit sarcastic, but it was unlike the rest of the visit and may have been playful. It’s a lovely place for a group or a special occasion, and they looked after me well. Well done, and keep it up.

We celebrated my mum’s 80th birthday here and had such a good time. Gina and the team were brilliant, and the food was fabulous. Many thanks to everyone who helped.

The room was comfortable and the food was excellent. Everyone working there, in the evening and again in the morning, was friendly and attentive. I needed an invoice and emailed about it, and Naomi got back to me quickly with a helpful reply. A brilliant overnight stay, absolutely recommend.
