Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast, served at 9, was delicious and nicely presented, just as we’d ordered the night before. We highly recommend staying here. Rowena was so knowledgeable about the area and gave us recommendations we really appreciated. Since it’s a B&B, she suggested we eat before arriving and talked us through the options. The pub she recommended was great. When we called from Hastings to ask about two rooms, she happily confirmed they were available and told us to come over from there. I offered my credit card, but she said it wasn’t necessary. The stay solved our problem with the Moore House in Hastings. You can read that review to understand what happened. The only access to the first floor rooms, the second floor for Americans, is by stairs. They’re wide, with deep treads and a reasonable rise, and we old folks climbed them easily. Rowena was really helpful, friendly and attentive, and we felt well looked after during a very comfortable stay. We walked to the observatory on a short outing. A few days beforehand, she warned us about what to expect and lent us reflective vests. We hadn’t realized the roads would be busy, so we were very grateful for them. Breakfast was good, and we had a very good stay.

It gets very dark at night, which is ideal if you enjoy stargazing. It’s almost as dark as the observatory just around the corner, and you can see the coastal cliffs from the bottom of the garden. We stayed for a long weekend in 2021, and the rooms, hotel and grounds were amazing. The hosts were pleasant and accommodating, our room was large and stately, and breakfast was very tasty. We also got to meet other guests. Totally recommended.

We came here after cancelling a hotel in tumbridge wells. When I rang at the last minute to ask about a spare double room, the owner was so accommodating and greeted us with open arms when we arrived. She showed us to a room I’d call stately, with an amazing bed and beautiful gardens. The little touches were lovely, like fresh milk in the shared beer and wine fridge and being allowed to chill our own wine there too. We were there for a funeral, and when we brought back flowers, she immediately offered us a vase. Breakfast was amazing. I’m sure we’ll be back many times over the next couple of months while we sort out the estate.

Rowena was friendly and welcoming, with lots of ideas for dinner nearby. There’s a really nice pub serving food just a few steps down the road, and a charming church opposite. The peaceful setting and beautiful grounds were lovely. Our gorgeous room was huge, lavishly furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast had a wide choice, and was scrumptious, beautifully prepared and presented. Virtually everything about the welcome, service, room and comfort was perfect. I can’t wait to go back!
